Dualitae has reimagined the concept of the modern-day female boss during BFW

For years now, the presence of women as "female bosses" has sparked interest not only in the commercial sphere but has also unleashed a seismic shift in creativity, image, perception, and the intrinsic sense of versatility. Brands—regardless of their industry—recognize in this concept the inherent value needed to shift and transform nuances, converting them into patterns and ideal settings for keeping creativity and inspiration alive.

With the advent of female dominance in the early 2010s, this concept acquired exponential relevance by permeating every imaginable sphere—serving as a counterpart to the male standard—thereby becoming a cultural phenomenon that, to this day, remains an object of study and inspiration; this holds true despite the fact that, historically, the figure of the "boss" has carried significant weight in every historical upheaval and social transformation.

To the fashion industry, this term is no stranger; rather, the industry grasped the value of the "female boss"—and, with it, produced collections that celebrated women as figures of dominance, control, power, and transgression. Although, year after year, the sober, flat, and linear aesthetic has gradually faded to make way for a style that is chicer and more adaptable, many brands still preserve the pristine essence of the concept, adapting it to professional, executive, and high-impact contexts. In doing so, they strive to ensure that each collection continues to redefine the term—much as the legendary Paul Poiret did, who, long before the turn of the millennium, had already—although involuntary—created a concept of female power.

At Bucharest Fashion Week—sponsored by Mercedes-Benz—the collections presented focused on the individualization of the concept: initially approached through a critical lens encompassing social, cultural, and avant-garde perspectives; and subsequently, through design diversification—which served as a premise for generating a sociological impact—adapted to suit a wide range of styles, personalities, ages, and roles. Dualitae, a brand that made a significant impression at BFW, introduced the "new-era female boss": powerful, self-assured, fashion- forward, elegant, and iconic. Centered on color, sophistication, textures, and layering, Dualitae reveals the authenticity behind power, the exclusivity behind the image, and the added value behind the role—all with the aim of fulfilling the mission to create a redefined image of the woman of 2026: the woman who inspires, thereby redefining the concept by shifting the focus from a perception of dominance toward a more glamorous, authentic, and stylized aesthetic.

Although the term "girl boss" has evolved to align with a framework more attuned to femininity, this brand continues to play upon the role of women as a driving force—as a powerful presence. It has successfully translated this concept into the principle that strength
need not lack style; on the contrary, it should be imbued with sophistication, character, and the potency required to stand tall as an inspiring figure in any sociocultural sphere.

Miguel Maldonado

Miguel Maldonado is a Mexico-born fashion stylist, image consultant, and creative strategist whose work bridges fashion, communication, and visual identity on an international scale. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, his career has been defined by a deep-rooted passion for fashion as both an art form and a strategic tool for storytelling.

A graduate of CEDIM (Centro de Estudios Superiores de Diseño de Monterrey) with a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing, Maldonado began his career in the early 2000s as a stylist for advertising campaigns and catalogs, collaborating with renowned photographer Elías Terrazas. This formative period shaped his aesthetic sensibility and laid the foundation for a career that now spans more than two decades.

In 2005, he relocated to Barcelona, where he earned a master’s degree in Styling, Image, and Communication from EATM / ESDI (Escuela Superior de Diseño). While in Spain, he expanded into costume design for the theater school of Verónica Pallini – Porta4, while simultaneously building a strong European client base through image consulting and personal shopping.

Further refining his multidisciplinary approach, Maldonado completed advanced studies in Window Dressing and Visual Merchandising at the Catalan Institute of Fashion (ICM), strengthening his expertise in visual strategy and brand presentation. In 2015, he moved to Berlin, where he launched his independent practice, collaborating with brands, designers, and creatives across industries to develop strategic image and communication solutions.

In 2025, alongside his husband, Maldonado co-founded Mi/Ma 79, a multidisciplinary agency focused on merging creative direction with innovative communication strategies across fashion, art, and design. The agency delivers comprehensive, concept-driven solutions—from styling and image development to full-scale visual and narrative campaigns.

Now based in New York City, Maldonado continues to expand his global footprint, working across continents with a refined approach that prioritizes authenticity, cultural awareness, and strategic impact. His work reflects a commitment to elevating identity through fashion—crafting narratives that not only resonate visually, but endure.
