Our Commitment

Iconic Original Media Corp. (“Iconic Original Media,” “IOM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible digital experience to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability, disability, technology, or method of access.

We believe that culture, journalism, information, entertainment, commerce, and creative opportunities should be available to everyone.

Our accessibility efforts apply to iconicoriginalmedia.com and the digital content, memberships, profiles, publications, videos, ecommerce features, forms, and related services that IOM controls.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. We are continually evaluating and improving the user experience as our website, publications, and services grow.

Accessibility Standard

IOM is working toward substantial conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA, commonly referred to as WCAG 2.2 AA.

WCAG provides recommendations for making digital content more:

  • Perceivable;
  • Operable;
  • Understandable; and
  • Robust.

Our reference to WCAG 2.2 AA expresses our accessibility objective. It is not a representation that every page, component, document, video, third-party integration, or archived item currently satisfies every WCAG success criterion.

Measures We Are Taking

IOM’s accessibility efforts may include:

  • Reviewing website structure and templates for accessibility;
  • Supporting keyboard navigation;
  • Maintaining logical heading structures;
  • Providing meaningful text alternatives for informative images;
  • Marking decorative images appropriately;
  • Improving color contrast;
  • Using readable typography and spacing;
  • Supporting browser zoom and text enlargement;
  • Providing descriptive link and button text;
  • Adding labels and instructions to forms;
  • Providing clear validation and error messages;
  • Maintaining visible keyboard-focus indicators;
  • Improving navigation consistency;
  • Supporting screen readers and other assistive technologies;
  • Adding captions, transcripts, or alternative formats to audiovisual content where reasonably available;
  • Reviewing pop-ups, paywalls, menus, account features, and cookie controls;
  • Improving accessibility in carts, checkout, login, registration, and member-profile features;
  • Reviewing digital publications and downloadable documents;
  • Evaluating third-party services before or during integration;
  • Training relevant team members and contributors on accessible content practices;
  • Including accessibility considerations in new designs and development; and
  • Addressing accessibility feedback and identified barriers.

Our goal is for visitors to access essential website functions using a keyboard without requiring a mouse or touchscreen.

This includes the ability to navigate and operate:

  • Menus;
  • Links;
  • Buttons;
  • Forms;
  • Pop-ups and modal windows;
  • Cookie controls;
  • Article paywalls;
  • Membership options;
  • Login and account features;
  • Shopping carts; and
  • Checkout.

Interactive elements should display a visible focus indicator when selected using a keyboard.

If you encounter a keyboard trap, invisible focus, inaccessible menu, or another navigation barrier, please report it using the contact information below.

Images and Editorial Media

We are working to provide meaningful alternative text for editorial images that communicate information.

Decorative images should be marked so assistive technologies can ignore them.

Alternative text may not describe every visual detail. Editorial judgment may be used to communicate the image’s meaningful context, purpose, or relationship to the accompanying article.

Some archival, licensed, syndicated, user-submitted, advertiser-provided, or third-party images may not yet contain complete alternative descriptions.

If you need information conveyed by an image in another format, contact us and identify the article or page.

Video, Audio, and Podcasts

We aim to improve access to video, audio, interviews, podcasts, and other multimedia content through measures such as:

  • Closed captions;
  • Transcripts;
  • Descriptive titles;
  • Written summaries;
  • Accessible media-player controls; and
  • Alternative access when reasonably available.

Some older, live, third-party, embedded, licensed, promotional, or rapidly published content may not immediately include captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions.

If you encounter an IOM video or audio feature without accessible alternatives, contact us and provide the page URL and title of the content.

We will evaluate the request and, where reasonably possible, work to provide the information through an alternative method.

Forms and Applications

Our goal is for forms to provide:

  • Programmatically associated labels;
  • Clear instructions;
  • Required-field identification;
  • Accessible error messages;
  • Keyboard operation;
  • Logical focus order;
  • Sufficient time to complete the form;
  • Confirmation after submission; and
  • Privacy disclosures in accessible text.

This applies to active forms such as:

  • Newsletter subscriptions;
  • Contact inquiries;
  • Membership registration;
  • Account creation;
  • Profile management;
  • Cart and checkout; and
  • Other published submission or application forms.

If a form cannot be completed using assistive technology, contact us for an alternative submission method.

Memberships, Accounts, and Paywalls

We aim to make membership and account features accessible, including:

  • Membership-plan selection;
  • Price and renewal disclosures;
  • Account registration;
  • Login;
  • Password reset;
  • Member-profile management;
  • Subscription management;
  • Cancellation;
  • Article and video access; and
  • Customer-service contact options.

Membership restrictions and paywalls should not prevent visitors from accessing accessibility information, legal notices, account assistance, or instructions for requesting an accommodation.

Ecommerce and Digital Purchases

Our goal is to provide an accessible purchasing experience for:

  • Digital editions;
  • Merchandise;
  • Memberships;
  • Event access; and
  • Other products or services.

We aim to make product information, prices, purchase buttons, shopping carts, checkout fields, error messages, payment controls, and order confirmations understandable and operable with assistive technology.

Third-party payment or ecommerce services may have accessibility features and limitations controlled by their respective providers.

If you are unable to complete a purchase because of an accessibility barrier, contact us for assistance.

Digital Editions, Documents, and PDFs

IOM may provide magazines, media kits, forms, presentations, PDFs, or other downloadable documents.

Some documents-particularly older, highly visual, print-formatted, scanned, licensed, or third-party materials-may not be fully compatible with screen readers or other assistive technologies.

Where reasonably possible, we will work to:

  • Add document titles and language information;
  • Use logical heading structures;
  • Provide selectable text;
  • Improve reading order;
  • Add alternative text;
  • Label links and form fields;
  • Add bookmarks to longer documents; and
  • Provide an alternative format upon request.

Contact us if you need an IOM-controlled document in another accessible format.

Color, Contrast, and Typography

We aim to maintain sufficient contrast between text, interactive elements, and their backgrounds.

Information should not be communicated through color alone.

Our website should support browser zoom and text enlargement without preventing access to essential content or functionality.

Brand presentation will remain important to IOM, but it should not prevent readers from accessing or understanding the content.

Motion, Animation, and Visual Effects

Where the website uses animation, movement, automatic transitions, or video, we aim to avoid content that:

  • Flashes at unsafe frequencies;
  • Creates unnecessary barriers;
  • Prevents users from reading or interacting with content; or
  • Cannot be paused when pausing is required.

We will evaluate options for reducing or controlling nonessential motion, including compatibility with device-level reduced-motion preferences where practical.

Language and Readability

We aim to identify the primary language of pages programmatically and use headings, instructions, links, and controls that clearly describe their purpose.

Where IOM publishes multilingual content, we will work to identify language changes appropriately when technically practical.

Editorial style may vary by publication and subject, but essential instructions, forms, purchases, account functions, and legal information should be understandable.

Compatibility

Our website is designed for use with current versions of commonly used browsers, operating systems, and assistive technologies.

Accessibility may be affected by:

  • Outdated browsers;
  • Unsupported operating systems;
  • Browser extensions;
  • Device settings;
  • Third-party applications;
  • Custom security settings; or
  • Assistive technologies that do not support modern web standards.

Visitors should use current software and enable JavaScript where required for essential interactive functionality.

We will not intentionally require a specific assistive technology when content can reasonably be delivered through recognized web standards.

Technical Approach

Accessibility depends on technologies that may include:

  • HTML;
  • CSS;
  • JavaScript;
  • WAI-ARIA;
  • WordPress;
  • Ecommerce and membership technologies;
  • Embedded media players; and
  • Third-party integrations.

We aim to use semantic HTML before relying on custom accessibility attributes.

ARIA should supplement-not replace-proper native HTML structure and controls.

Third-Party Content and Services

The Services may contain or integrate content and functionality provided by third parties, including:

  • Video and audio players;
  • Social-media platforms;
  • Advertising;
  • Payment processors;
  • Ecommerce tools;
  • Maps;
  • Event platforms;
  • Embedded posts;
  • Licensed editorial material;
  • Distribution platforms; and
  • External websites.

IOM may not control the accessibility of these third-party services.

We encourage third-party providers and partners to offer accessible experiences. When a third-party feature creates a barrier, we will evaluate reasonably available alternatives or provide assistance where possible.

Links to third-party websites do not mean that IOM controls or guarantees their accessibility.

Archived and Older Content

Some content created or published before current accessibility processes were introduced may not meet current accessibility standards.

This may include:

  • Archived articles;
  • Older photographs;
  • Videos without captions;
  • Audio without transcripts;
  • Scanned documents;
  • Past magazine editions;
  • Event galleries;
  • Legacy page templates; and
  • Previously supplied partner content.

We are working to improve priority content based on factors such as current use, public importance, user requests, and technical feasibility.

You may request assistance with a specific archived item by contacting us.

User-Submitted and Partner-Provided Content

Content supplied by users, contributors, advertisers, sponsors, publicists, agencies, photographers, filmmakers, event organizers, or other third parties may not always satisfy IOM’s accessibility objectives at the time it is received.

We may request accessible alternatives or make reasonable adjustments when practical.

Responsibility for accessibility may also be addressed in the applicable contributor, advertising, partnership, licensing, production, or submission agreement.

Known and Potential Limitations

Despite our efforts, some accessibility limitations may remain.

Potential limitations may include:

  • Older editorial content without complete alternative text;
  • Archived videos without captions or transcripts;
  • Highly visual digital magazine editions;
  • PDFs designed primarily for print;
  • Third-party embedded media;
  • Advertising supplied by outside parties;
  • User-submitted materials;
  • Social-media embeds;
  • Legacy page components; and
  • Features that have not yet been fully tested across all assistive-technology combinations.

This list does not mean that every listed feature is inaccessible. It identifies areas that may require continued review and improvement.

Please report any barrier you encounter, including barriers not identified here.

Accessibility Testing

Accessibility evaluation may include a combination of:

  • Automated testing;
  • Manual keyboard testing;
  • Screen-reader review;
  • Color-contrast analysis;
  • Browser zoom testing;
  • Mobile testing;
  • Form and error-message testing;
  • Caption and transcript review;
  • User feedback; and
  • Professional accessibility assessment.

Automated tools alone cannot determine whether a website is fully accessible.

IOM intends to prioritize human review and functional testing as accessibility work continues.

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of Iconic Original Media.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need information in another format, please contact:

Accessibility Request

To help us respond effectively, please include:

  • The page title;
  • The page URL;
  • A description of the barrier;
  • The action you were trying to complete;
  • The device and browser used, if known;
  • The assistive technology used, if you choose to identify it; and
  • Your preferred contact method.

You are not required to disclose a disability or medical information when requesting accessibility assistance.

We will review accessibility requests and work to provide a reasonable response or alternative access when possible.

Alternative Access

If a digital feature, document, video, purchase process, or communication is not accessible to you, IOM will consider reasonably available alternative methods of providing the information or service.

Alternatives may include:

  • Accessible electronic text;
  • A transcript;
  • A captioned version;
  • Assistance completing a form;
  • An alternative document format;
  • Customer-service assistance; or
  • Another communication method.

The availability and timing of an alternative may depend on the nature of the material, copyright or licensing restrictions, technical feasibility, and the requested use.

No Retaliation

IOM will not knowingly retaliate against or deny equal treatment to an individual for reporting an accessibility concern or requesting reasonable assistance.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project.

As IOM introduces new publications, memberships, profiles, ecommerce features, videos, events, applications, and digital experiences, we will continue working to incorporate accessibility into planning, design, development, content production, and quality assurance.

Changes to This Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as our Services, standards, technologies, and accessibility practices change.

The “Last updated” date will indicate the most recent revision.
